In 2008, VMware released the first version of what is currently known as VMware Horizon. The Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) was born and would change the future of End-User Computing forever. The idea behind a VDI, is to move compute power from and endpoint device such as a desktop pc or a laptop to the datacenter and share that compute power with multiple users. Basically, how virtualization solved physical server silo challenges 4 years earlier.
