Friday June 14th, the Lamot in Mechelen is THE place to be! That day, VMUGBE 2019 (VMware User Group Belgium) takes place in the old brewery building in the heart of Mechelen. And with a line up, even Rock Werchter would be jealous about, it promises to be an amazing day: Joe Baguley, Luc Dekens, Valentin Bondzio, Johan van Amersfoort, and many more local VMware Rock Stars and vExperts.
I am very happy that ITQ and VMware go hand in hand as the two platinum sponsors. It is a token of our strategic partnership.
And we are very determined to contribute significantly to the event :
In the afternoon keynote (13h20-14h), our own Bearded VDI Junkie, and author of last year’s bestseller ‘The VDI Design Guide’, Johan Van Amersfoort (https://www.vmug.be/speakers/johan-van-amersfoort/), will be presenting a unique story that shows the power of technology on one hand, and how technology can be used as a force for good on the other hand. Johan will explain how we are helping a research institute use VMware technologies to support medical research, by vMotioning compute power, as it where, to support different use cases : ‘VDI by day, compute by night’. Although this sounds easy, it is pretty complex and various road blocks needed to be bypassed in an ingenious way. Make sure to attend this very inspiring presentation.
Come and check out the ITQ booth and get to meet our IT nerds. We are all passionate about VMware technologies and whether you are into end user computing, automation, operations management, software defined datacenter, storage or networking, we welcome you to join us on our booth. We want to talk with you about technologies, about cool tools (check out https://www.vroast.io/blog/ !!!), about personal development initiatives (VCDX ambitions?) and we are planning do show some nerdy stuff and demo’s as well.
There will be many interesting presentations during the day. One I would like to call out specifically is the one about ‘The intelligence driven workspace’, by VMware’s Frederiek van Hoornick and our own Maarten Caus. Make sure to add it to your schedule.
Last but not least, VMUGBE is all about the community of VMware aficionados in Belgium. So, there’s no better opportunity than June 14th, to unite vExperts and candidate vExperts. Kim Bottu and Stijn Depril (both vExpert PROs for Belgium) and myself are the driving forces behind the vExpert initiative in Belgium (check out https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/vexperts-vbeers-real-fun-tom-vallons/). Every half year, we would like 3 or 4 additional vExperts to be nominated and grow this dynamic community. At VMUGBE 2019, Stijn Depril will present a ‘vExpert Community Session’ and there will be a dedicated booth as well.
