We just had VMworld US last August and VMworld Europe is coming up. The conference is held from the 5th till the 8th of November in Fira Barcelona Gran Via. In this blog post I explain why you should be exited as I am, about VMworld Europe. Let’s dive in!

VM What?

VMworld, hosted by VMware, is the industry’s premier digital infrastructure event. VMworld 2018 Europe brings you four days of innovation to accelerate your journey to a software-defined business—from mobile devices to the data center and the cloud.

Why am I going?

I’m going for all the parties, free food and the swag. No these are just great extra’s! VMworld Europe is a great place to talk with your peers, learn new things and get a glimpse of the technology of tomorrow. Below you find the sessions, I think are the most important for the future of the Digital Workspace.

Digital Workspace Sessions

Architecting Horizon 7 Enterprise: The Official Reference Architecture [WIN3451BE]

VMware End User Computing product division experts that create the official reference architectures take you through how to design and architect a Horizon 7 Enterprise environment. The architecture includes Horizon 7, App Volumes, User Environment Manager, VMware Identity Manager and more! Presented by Graeme Gordon, Senior Staff EUC Architect, VMware.
Why should you attend VMworld Europe?

Besides creating a good business case, the most important and difficult is thing is creating a good design. Lucky for us we don’t have to reinvent the wheel and we can base our designs on existing reference architectures. This session will cover the design off every Horizon component.

Optimizing VMware Horizon and NVIDIA vGPU for the Best VDI User Experience [WIN2006BE]

Gartner states that user experience is the single most important predictor of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) success. From the design and engineering workflows evolving and becoming more complex, to the new performance challenges Windows 10 brings, traditional performance metrics can no longer capture true user experience. NVIDIA has taken standard testing to the next level, enabling customers to achieve successful enterprise-wide VDI deployments.

Join this session to learn more about real user testing and scientific data quantifying the impact of NVIDIA virtual GPU on VDI environments running VMware Horizon and Blast H.264. Discover how VMware is executing and automating performance tests, and how you can optimize your environment for the best user experience. Presented by Kiran Rao, Director, Product Management, VMware and Erik Bohnhorst, Professional Visualization Performance Engineering Manager, NVIDIA

Why should you attend VMworld Europe?

It’s all about the end user experience!

The Digital Workspace Keynote: End User Computing and Mobility Live! [DW3727KE]

There has never been a better time to be working in the field of End User Computing. Companies and organizations are putting new investment into mobile technologies and digital tools to increase employee engagement scores, drive productivity, transform business processes and delight their customers.

Consistently, organizations cite the need to offer exceptional employee experiences in a competitive labor market. However, with constantly evolving security threats and a dissolving network perimeter, only a comprehensive digital workspace platform can give IT the freedom to act as an agent of change and drive a culture of empowerment.

Why should you attend VMworld Europe?

This Showcase Keynote will feature the leaders, ecosystem partners and customers of VMware’s End User Computing business that includes Workspace ONE, powered by AirWatch and Horizon. We’ll bring you the latest news, demonstrations, insights, and information you can use to be an agent of change and elevate your career. Presented by Shankar Iyer, SVP and Co-GM, EUC, VMware and Noah Wasmer, SVP, Co-GM, VMware.

They will probably announce new features during the keynote, that were not revealed in Las Vegas!

Design Deep Dive: Cloud Burst with Horizon 7 on VMware Cloud Powered by AWS [WIN1717BE]

Follow the footsteps of VMware’s R&D and field practitioners from the Professional Services organization to get real-life, under the hood design insights on how End User Computing (EUC) uses cases can be successfully deployed on hybrid cloud using Horizon 7’s multi-site Cloud Pod Architecture (CPA).

Why should you attend VMworld Europe?

The attendees will learn real-life best practices on how to accelerate high availability and scalability of Horizon desktops and application on VMware Cloud powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Hands-On practitioners – learn how to avoid some of the thorniest problems in successfully planning, designing and implementing Horizon7 Cloud Bursting solution on VMware Cloud powered by AWS.

CIOs/CTOs – gain key insights into strategizing Horizon7’s hybrid cloud bursting solutions that help lower CAPEX and OPEX. Presented by TJ Vatsa, Principal Architect- Global Professional Services, VMware and Hilko Lantinga, Senior EUC Architect, VMware.

VMware Cloud on AWS offers a lot off of potential for Horizon 7. First of all Disaster Recovery, Ideal for small branch offices, expansion for temporary workloads… I’m curious about the use cases and the best practices.

NSX Data Center Micro-segmentation Best Practices for Horizon and Citrix VDI Environments [MTE5175E]

Want to understand more about securing your VDI environment with NSX Data Center micro-segmentation? Meet our experts to learn more. Presented by Geoff Wilmington, Senior Technical Product Manager, NSBU, VMware

Why should you attend VMworld Europe?

Security is becoming more and more important in every organisation and technology stack. VMware NSX for Horizon brings speed and simplicity to virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) networking, with policies that dynamically follow virtual desktops.
