After the amazing Omnissa ONE event in Amsterdam, where ITQ was present with a large team, Omnissa has shown the direction in which the company is heading in the future. It was exciting to see such a strong presence of customers and partners at the event. During the presentations, important issues emerged, including Vulnerability Defense as a new feature for Workspace ONE UEM.
In recent years ITQ has seen that the vulnerability threats for companies, government, and healthcare institutions have intensified significantly. Just as one vulnerability is addressed, the next one is already on the horizon. This escalating risk underscores the need for a robust security strategy.
For years, Omnissa has equipped its clients with diverse solutions to navigate these challenges, and now, it’s introducing an advanced addition to its offerings: Vulnerability Defense.
Set to launch in beta in the first half of 2025, Vulnerability Defense empowers customers to accelerate threat assessment and remediation. It enhances visibility and control by correlating configuration, OS, and application vulnerabilities with endpoints in Workspace ONE UEM.
The remediation process is then streamlined through Freestyle Orchestrator, enabling faster and more efficient resolution of vulnerabilities and allowing organizations to integrate their preferred vulnerability sources. With Vulnerability Defense, Workspace ONE provides an innovative tool to strengthen security posture, reduce response times, and proactively manage evolving threats.
Vulnerability Defense is essential because it helps protect organizations from significant risks that could have devastating consequences, and this is why it's so important:
- Data Protection: Vulnerabilities can expose sensitive data, including personal information, financial data, and intellectual property. This is true for sectors like healthcare and government, where sensitive data is often targeted.
- Compliance Requirements: Many industries are subject to strict regulations (such as GDPR and others) that mandate specific security measures to protect data. Failing to secure vulnerabilities can lead to non-compliance, resulting in severe financial penalties and legal issues.
- Prevention of Financial Loss: Attacks that exploit vulnerabilities can lead to direct financial losses through theft, ransom, and even operational downtime.
- Reputation Management: Publicized security breaches harm an organization’s reputation, eroding customer trust. Preventing vulnerabilities protects not just systems but also the organization’s name.
- Operational Continuity: Vulnerabilities can lead to disruptions that halt business operations, A strong vulnerability defense strategy ensures operational continuity by minimizing such risks.
- Proactive Defense: Attackers often seek out the smallest vulnerabilities to infiltrate networks. A proactive approach to identifying and addressing vulnerabilities keeps an organization ahead of potential threats, rather than constantly reacting after issues arise.
Workspace ONE integrates vulnerability data from CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). At the same time, Workspace ONE Intelligence collects diverse information from Workspace ONE UEM, such as OS versions, device models, and application details. By correlating this data with CVE and NVD sources, Intelligence delivers a comprehensive view of vulnerabilities across your entire device landscape. This enhances decision-making and enables automated actions to secure your organization’s workspace environment.
Omnissa and CrowdStrike have announced a collaboration
To further enhance customer security, Omnissa has partnered with CrowdStrike. Through this collaboration, Omnissa and CrowdStrike help organizations enhance the cybersecurity of their platforms. This collaboration focuses on providing an end-to-end solution for threat visibility and interconnected vulnerability detection while also applying remediation.
We are talking about CrowdStrike's AI-driven Falcon cybersecurity platform. CrowdStrike is one of the leaders in the field of EDR and XDR technology, and with the Falcon cybersecurity platform that uses Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, they offer a targeted approach to vulnerabilities.
