I still see it happen far too often. Workloads are moved to the cloud, and everyone assumes modernization has happened.

But a lift and shift does not make your workloads modern.
A workload remains exactly the same, no matter where you host it.

In many cases, costs rise, control decreases and when an outage occurs, you are fully dependent on someone else to fix it. Cloud is not a magic button.

Without redesign and a clear strategy, you are simply moving old problems into a new environment. Modernization is not about where you run your workloads, it is about how you run them.
