The new readiness check in VCF 9 is a powerful feature to determine whether your environment is ready for an upgrade. But be careful: the tool’s output is technical and requires interpretation.
What does the checker do?
The VCF 9 readiness check analyzes:
- Your current SDDC architecture
- Component compatibility (vCenter, NSX, vSAN, etc.)
- Potential technical blockers
- License eligibility
But: the report does not include upgrade advice. That’s where ITQ comes in.
Our approach: from check to plan
- Step 1: Analysis of your environment
We run the tool and do an additional infrastructure analysis. What does the report say? What does your usage context tell us?
- Step 2: Identify risks
We link blockers to potential consequences (downtime, compliance issues, SLA impact).
- Step 3: Create upgrade plan
Together, we determine scope, scheduling windows, rollback options, and how to address any required reconfiguration.
- Step 4: Support during upgrade
Our engineers guide the entire technical execution and monitor the impact during and after go-live.
Why not just use the tool?
The checker only detects technical issues. We also help with:
- License validation and SKU mapping
- Business impact analysis
- Stakeholder communication and adoption
- Compliance preparation for the 180-day license check
